  • 4 slices Whole Wheat Bread or sourdough or gluten-free
  • 2 tablespoons Apple Butter homemade preferred
  • 1 tablespoon Chopped Fresh Sage or less dried sage
  • 4 ounces Sharp Cheddar Cheese or white cheddar
  • 1 medium Firm Tart Apple like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp
  • 4 slices Deli Turkey Meat or chicken for alternative
  • 2 tablespoons Light Butter Spread or traditional butter

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat a nonstick skillet over medium-low heat.
  2. Spread apple butter on one side of each slice of bread.
  3. Layer the chopped sage, cheddar cheese, apple slices, and turkey on two slices of bread.
  4. Spread light butter on the outer sides of both sandwiches.
  5. Grill the sandwiches for 2 to 4 minutes per side until golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  6. Slice each sandwich diagonally and serve hot.
