Method
 

Instructions for Crispy Pan-Fried Garlic Tofu
  1. Press the extra firm tofu on paper towels with a heavy object for 30 minutes to remove moisture.
  2. Cut the pressed tofu into 1-inch cubes and coat them in cornstarch.
  3. Heat sesame oil and vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high until shimmering.
  4. Fry the coated tofu cubes for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  5. Whisk together soy sauce, water, honey, sambal oelek, garlic paste, rice wine vinegar, and cornstarch in a bowl.
  6. Pour the sauce over the crispy tofu in the skillet, stir and cook for additional 2-3 minutes until thickened.
  7. Serve hot over steamed rice or with stir-fried vegetables.
